Meet Catherine

Hello!

Welcome to the website for "Balanced Practice". I am so happy you are here, and give you so much credit for pursuing therapy. If you are new to therapy, it can feel scary or overwhelming at first. I provide a safe space to work through issues together, so whatever you are facing, know that you are not alone.

I started Balanced Practice LLC with the hope to help my clients find an inner balance in a world that seems to constantly push and pull us; leave us feeling disoriented, and unsettled.

All of my clinical work is rooted in my connection and relationship with you, my client. I foster a genuine, caring and many times laughter filled relationship with my clients. Its so important to build trust and comfort so when life gets hard, you feel you have a confidante right there with you.

[01] THE APPROACH

Care as individual as you are.

At Balanced Practice, I believe that true mental wellness is not about constant activity, but about the quiet space between all the noise. My philosophy centers on creating this space where you can explore your emotions, thoughts and behaviors without judgment.

I take an integrative approach and draw from several therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. Additionally, a common foundation for my clinical framework is mindfulness, so clients can learn and utilize mindfulness strategies  across a variety of mental health issues. Mindfulness is a hot topic these days, but my therapeutic use of mindfulness is best understood through a quote by Jon Kabat Zinn, "The awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, and non-

judgmentally".

Additionally, through telehealth we can bring the comfort of a private office directly to your home, ensuring that your journey toward your therapeutic goals is as private and serene as possible. I am here to walk alongside you, providing the professional support you need to find your way back to balance.

What is involved in the free 15 minute consultation?

The 15 minute consultation is a low-stakes way for you to dip your toes in without any commitment. Typically you can share a little bit about what is bringing you to therapy, and I'll share a little about how I approach our work together.

What is individual counseling?

Individual counseling is a personal journey focused on your unique needs. We work one-on-one to address mental health challenges, foster personal growth, and build practical mindfulness and regulation skills in a safe, judgment-free space.

How does telehealth counseling work?

Our sessions are held  via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You can join from the privacy and comfort of your own home, making it easier to integrate mental health support into your daily life.

Who do you work with?

I work with adolescents, adults, and 65+ populations on a myriad of mental health issues. My ideal client is one who is open to pause and reflect on their feelings, thoughts and behaviors and see how they align with their over arching life goals and values.

What insurance do you accept?

I currently accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna and Evernorth, Harvard Pilgrim, Optum, Oxford, Quest Behavioral, Tufts, and UnitedHealthcare (UHC/UBH). I also accept private pay at a rate of $150 per 53+min session.
